Indiana’s Lake Country

One of the most lake-dense counties in the Midwest—more than 100 named lakes across 554 square miles. Warsaw, the county seat, sits at the crossroads of several glacially carved lakes.

A Lake for Every Lifestyle

  • Winona Lake — 571 ac, artisan culture & the Village at Winona
  • Center Lake — walkable downtown-Warsaw lakefront
  • Pike Lake — urban-convenient, quiet 10 mph water
  • Lake Tippecanoe — Indiana’s deepest at 123 ft
  • Barbee Chain — 7 connected lakes, 855 ac of variety
  • Chapman Lakes — spring-fed, conservation-minded

Water Quality, Taken Seriously

The Lilly Center at Grace College sampled 16 county lakes in 2025 and publishes the results in its annual ‘Beneath the Surface’ report. In 2026, it received a $10 million Lilly Endowment grant to launch Lake Rx.

Stewardship That Shows Up

The Watershed Foundation and active lake associations fund weed treatment, shoreline buffers, and runoff projects — organized stewardship that is rare in Indiana, and public enough for buyers to verify.

Access Without Isolation

About 40 miles to Fort Wayne and 45 to South Bend; roughly two hours to Indianapolis, two and a half to Chicago. U.S. 30 and S.R. 15 keep commutes and getaways easy.
